This Friday, February 13, is a STUDENT DAY!

Due to recent inclement weather—and having used all state-allowed remote instructional days—the Board of Education approved the following changes:
Friday, Feb. 13 is now a student day (snow make-up day).
Monday, Feb. 16 will be the snow make-up day for Challenger Early College High School.
• Friday, March 13 is pre-approved as a potential make-up day if needed and currently remains a teacher workday.

 

📅 Schedule Reminder for Monday, February 16

CCS families, please note that Monday, February 16, 2026 will be an optional workday for staff. There will be no school for students, with the exception of Challenger Early College High School, which will have a student day.
👉 QUEST will operate at designated full day sites.


 


2026-27 Kindergarten Spanish Immersion Applications Open February 23rd at 8AM!

If you have a rising kindergartner or know someone who does, and are interested in one of our Spanish Immersion programs, mark your calendar for Monday, February 23 at 8:00 AM and apply for a spot! First come basis.

CCS Internship Applications Now Open!

Earn Honors or Regular Course Credit through Work-Based Learning.

Open to rising 9th–12th graders

✅ 2026–2027 School Year Internships
Open to rising 11th–12th graders

To receive course credit, students must submit an application.

Applications are reviewed by your school’s Career Development Coordinator, who will schedule a required meeting at a later date.

This process is treated like a job application —students should  take your time and complete it carefully!

Friends of Hickory Public Library announce 2026 Bookmark Contest
 
HICKORY – To celebrate National Library Week, Friends of Hickory Public Library will sponsor the 2026 bookmark contest for kids in kindergarten through eighth grade.
 
All are encouraged to participate through their school, youth organization, home, Patrick Beaver Memorial Library, or Ridgeview Branch Library.
 
Participants are encouraged to submit one bookmark design for consideration. A winning bookmark design will be selected for each grade.
 
Winners of this year’s bookmark contest will win a prize and have their designs used as the official Hickory Public Library bookmarks for the coming year.
 
The theme for this year’s contest is “Find Your Joy.”
 
Contestants can pick up entry forms at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library and Ridgeview Branch Library. Forms and information packets have also been sent to area public and private schools, and various youth organizations. Entries must be received by Tuesday, March 13.
 
Winners will be announced at a special ceremony at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library on Thursday, April 23, at 5 p.m.
 
The Friends of Hickory Public Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support and service to the library.
 
Patrick Beaver Memorial Library is located at 375 3rd Street NE in Hickory.
 
Ridgeview Branch Library is located at 706 1st Street SW in Hickory.

 Pickleball Lessons at the Hickory Foundation YMCA!
Looking for a fun way for your child (or you!) to learn pickleball? The Hickory Foundation YMCA is offering pickleball lessons for all skill levels, with sessions for youth (ages 10–17) and adults (18+) on Thursdays. Lessons take place at the outdoor pickleball courts.
