Reminder of Clear Water Policy at MES

Posted Date: 7/30/25 (9:00 AM)

Dear MES Parents/Guardians,

I hope this message finds you well and that you're enjoying a relaxing and refreshing summer break.

As we prepare to return to our beautiful new school building this August, I want to remind you that we will continue the Clear Water Bottle Policy that was implemented last school year. This policy was introduced with the best intentions to help keep our facility clean, minimize spills, and prevent unnecessary damage to our new learning environment.

To help ensure consistency and clarity, I’ve included examples below of the types of water bottles that are considered appropriate under this policy.

Here are the key points of the policy:

  1. Clear Water Bottles Only: Students may bring only clear water bottles to school. This helps us easily identify the contents and ensures that only water is brought into classrooms.

  2. Preserving Our New Building: Drinks other than water can be sticky and may stain floors and furniture. We want to keep our new school looking its best for as long as possible.

  3. Support for Families: If providing a clear water bottle is a hardship, we will supply one for your student. Please reach out to our office for assistance.

  4. No Other Liquids: Any liquids other than water will be poured out. Clear sodas like Sprite and Sierra Mist are also not permitted, as their fizz and sugar can still create a mess.

  5. No Sodas During School Hours: Sodas should never be brought to school during regular school hours, including lunchtime.

  6. Special Events: During events outside of the regular school environment, such as field trips or Field Day, students are allowed to have other beverages like Gatorade, Kool-Aid, and soda.  Also, during classroom parties other drinks besides water will be allowed at teacher discretion.

  7. Lunch Exceptions: At lunch, students can bring juice boxes. In the cafeteria, there will always be options to purchase drinks other than milk, and water will be available for free.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain the integrity of our new school building. By adhering to this policy, we can ensure a clean and pleasant learning environment for all our students.

Thank you for your understanding and support. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me or the school office.

Sincerely,

Shannon Plemmons
