🔬💻 Summer Elementary STEM Camp Opportunity!

Catawba County Schools’ Department of Advanced Learning is offering a Summer STEM Camp for students rising into grades 2–6. Students will explore coding, robotics, and hands-on STEM activities in a fun and engaging environment.

The camp features two age-specific programs:
• Grades 2–3: Screen-free coding and robotics
• Grades 4–6: Coding and robotics with applied STEM learning

📅 Camp Dates & Locations:
• Jacobs Fork Middle School: July 13–16
• Arndt Middle School: July 20–23
• Mill Creek Middle School: July 27–30

⏰ Time: 8:00–11:30 AM daily

Hickory Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism to host Easter Egg Scramble 5K
 
HICKORY – The City of Hickory Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Department will host the second annual Easter Egg Scramble 5K on Saturday, March 28, at 9 a.m. at Hickory City Park.
 
The Easter Egg Scramble 5K is an opportunity to run along the Riverwalk on Lake Hickory and get some exercise before enjoying chocolate and candy treats at the 39th Annual Children’s Easter Egg Hunt.
 
Registration is open at runsignup.com/Race/NC/Hickory/HickoryKSeries. The cost to participate is $30 per person, with a price increase to $35 after March 15. A custom t-shirt is included with all purchases prior to March 15.
 
After the race, an awards ceremony will recognize the top three men and women in all age categories. Winners will receive a custom medal.
 
Runners can pick up their bibs and event t-shirts on Thursday, March 26, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or Friday, March 27, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Highland Recreation Center. Participants can also pick up their materials from 8-8:45 a.m. on the day of the race.
 
The Easter Egg Scramble is the first race in a series of 5K races hosted by the City of Hickory. Runners can sign up for any or all races for a chance to win overall prizes. Learn more about the series at https://tinyurl.com/263cxm9v.

City of Hickory to host annual Children’s Easter Egg Hunt
 
HICKORY – The City of Hickory Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Department will host the 39th Annual Children’s Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 28, at Henry Fork River Park.
 
This year, the event has four separate Easter egg hunts for different age groups, beginning at 6 p.m.:
 
  • 0-2 years old - 6 p.m.
  • 3-4 years old - 6:30 p.m.
  • 5-6 years old - 7 p.m.
  • 7-12 years old - 8:15 p.m.
 
All participants are encouraged to bring their own baskets to collect the eggs and a flashlight if participating in the hunt beginning at 8:15 p.m. No registration is necessary.
 
In addition to the Easter egg hunts, attendees can take photos with the Easter bunny, build Easter-themed crafts, and participate in more Easter-themed activities.
 
Henry Fork River Park is located at 5655 Sweet Bay Lane in Hickory.
