Shannon Plemmons
Principal, Maiden Elementary SchoolMeet Shannon Plemmons, Principal
I am honored to be serving in my seventh year as Principal of Maiden Elementary School. I first joined Catawba County Schools in August 2009, and my career in education began at Fred T. Foard High School, where I taught Special Education and coached softball. I later joined Blackburn Elementary as a Resource Special Education teacher before returning to Fred T. Foard to teach in a self-contained classroom, continuing as the softball coach and later coaching the women’s golf team. My path then led me into school leadership, where I served four years as Assistant Principal at Maiden Middle School before being given the privilege of leading Maiden Elementary as Principal. I hold a B.S. in Special Education from Appalachian State University and an M.A. in Executive Leadership from Gardner-Webb University.
Outside of school, I am the proud parent of a 6th grader, and I treasure the time I get to spend with my son, family, and friends. I am an avid sports fan and love cheering on both Appalachian State and the Tennessee Volunteers. Whether it’s a trip to the mountains or the beach, I enjoy being outdoors and taking in new experiences. In my spare time, I also enjoy playing pickleball and spending time on the golf course.
I love being the Principal at Maiden Elementary. This community is rich in traditions and strong in its support, and I feel incredibly fortunate to do this job every day. As a proud graduate of Catawba County Schools, I have always cherished the experiences and opportunities our school system provides. Those experiences inspired me to become an educator and, now, to serve as a leader within the same system that gave so much to me. It is a true honor to give back by supporting our students, teachers, and community. Catawba County Schools will always hold a special place in my heart.

Secretary, Maiden Elementary SchoolI absolutely love being the secretary at Maiden Elementary School! Maiden has been a special part of my life for many years - both my children and I are proud former students. It’s a true joy to now serve the school that means so much to me.
Every day, I’m grateful to work alongside our amazing staff, supportive parents, and wonderful students. My goal is to make a positive impact in each child’s day - whether it’s offering a warm welcome, a helping hand, or simply being someone they can count on. I believe every student deserves to feel seen, supported, and encouraged, and I’m honored to be part of their journey.
